Abstract

1,035,379. Cavity resonators. PATELHOLD PATENTVERWERTUNGS- & ELEKTRO HOLDING A.G. Dec. 15, 1964 [Dec. 17, 1963], No. 51006/64. Heading H1W. [Also in Divisions H2 and H3] A cavity resonator having a pair of parallel end-faces includes a tuning plunger and coupling means consisting of a sideways extension of the main cavity, which extension is of axial height less than half that of the main cavity, and into which both a second tuning plunger and the inner conductor of a coaxial line project, whereby adjustment of the two tuning plungers varies both the frequency and the matching, permitting matching over an extended frequency range. The shallow extension 8 of the main cavity 1 includes a tuning plunger 10 and the termination of a coaxial line 7, the inner conductor of which may be connected to a semi-conductor diode mounted in the extension (Fig. 4, not shown). Two or more cavity resonators may be arranged around the same diode mounted in a common communicating extension (Fig. 5, not shown) provided with two tuning plungers; the use of the arrangement as a multi-circuit band filter, and for parametric frequency changing (see Division H2) and amplification (see Division H3) is referred to. A rectangular or square, rather than cylindrical, cavity may be employed.
