Abstract

1,035,295. Clocks & watches. SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 11, 1965 [March 24,1964], No. 12312/64. Heading G3T. A date indicator in a watch comprises a date disc 7 and a toothed wheel 4 with alternate short and long teeth 5, 6 such that all these teeth can be engaged by a projection 1 rotatable with the hour wheel 3 whilst only the long teeth 6 engage teeth on the disc 7, whereby the disc is rotated one date interval for every two revolutions of the hour wheel. The disc is located in successive position by a spring-urged latch 9. A release portion 14,15, 16 of the latch is engaged by each long tooth 6 before this tooth engages the disc. The geometry of the surfaces 14, 15, 16 is such that the disc can be indexed manually by setting the hands of the watch forwards and backwards between 11.30 and 12.30.
