Abstract

1,034,698. Land mines. BRIND. Aug. 24, 1964, No. 34558/64. Heading F3A. A non-magnetic mine with an air-tight moulded plastics casing containing an explosive charge has a lid B traversed by a releasing device D consisting of a depresssable elastic cap Y and a firing-pin supported by an element which breaks under load to release the pin. The element comprises a synthetic resin body V with a base v2 joined to it by three thin arms v3 and having a cylindrical extension v4 housing a metallic firing-pin Z, the body V being supported on a flange C, which is clamped between the casing and the lid B, and covered by the elastic cap Y secured beneath the lid B. Slidably fitted on the extension v4 is a press-cap W held in a raised position by a spring X. When the mine has been laid a safety cap G is removed to expose the elastic cap Y which will deform under an applied load so that the press-cap W moves against the spring X to exert a force on the extension v4 and thus shear the arms v3 to release the firing-pin Z which is then thrust downwards by the spring X to strike a primer (not shown).
