Abstract
988,163. Ammunition fuzes. C. A. SOMVILLE. March 13, 1963 [Dec. 7, 1962], No. 9855/63. Heading F3A. The piezo-electric fuze described and claimed in Specification 980,380 is provided with a shock absorber 13 of deformable material which may be placed between the movable block 7 and the pressure block 9 as in Fig. 2 or between the block 9 and the crystal 10 or between the crystal and ring 11. The shock absorber may be made of natural or synthetic rubber. Other synthetic materials, which are resilient, may be used or the shock absorber may be made of malleable material such as lead. The shock, absorber may be provided by making one of the components of the piezo-electric device from a material which is either deformable, flexible or malleable.
