Abstract

1,032,792. Endless conveyers. SALZGITTAR MASCHINEN A.G. Jan. 9, 1963, No. 1029/63. Heading B8A. An articulated conveyer comprising a number of pans provided with overlapping arched end is constructed so that it can be optionally associated with a chain or with an articulated link belt or rack. A link belt or rack is desirable whenever the conveyer pans are to be pushed or braked against movement downhill. In Fig. 2, each pan 3 has an arm 5 pivoted to a shackle 4 by means of pins 6 on the arm. The shackle is located on a vertically disposed link 9 of a chain R and abutments 8, 8<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 6 (not shown), bear against the adjacent horizontal links 10 of the chain. A semi-cylindrical boss 11 on the arm 5 supports a transverse member 12 provided on the adjacent pan. Support rollers 14 and guide rollers 15 are carried by the member 12, Fig. 3 (not shown). In Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), a belt S comprising pivotally connected straps is connected to pan members 3, 16 by a pin 18 which passes through the ball 19 of a ball-and-socket joint and through bosses 17 formed on the straps or on the pan member 16. A further connection 20 is provided between the pan and strap, and bosses 21 are provided on the sides of the strap. In Fig. 8 (not shown) carrier units for the. pans comprise two angle-section members M, N forming straps in a link belt. Smaller strap portions 24, 24<SP>1</SP> may be welded to one end of each pair of members M, N and a cross-member 25 connects the other ends of the members M, N. The pans are mounted on the carrier units by means of tubular elements 27 or nuts 28. The two upper units in the Figure are connected by a pin 31 which passes through holes in flanges 22 and through holes in the strap portions 24, 24<SP>1</SP>. The connection between the two middle units of the Figure comprises a pin 32 having a ball-shaped centre portion 33 embraced by two hemispherical sockets 35, 35<SP>1</SP>. The lower two units are connected by a ball- and-socket joint which includes a pin 18, a ball member 19 and spacers 38. In Fig. 11 (not shown), bars 40 form links in a link belt S and are secured to a cross-member 39 on which sleeves 41 are rotatable. The chain R is secured to a shackle pin 31 by a key member and bolts, Figs. 12, 13 (not shown). The pin may comprise two parts, Fig. 14 (not shown). In Figs. 21, 22 (not shown), carrier units have longitudinal angle-section members 73 of which the vertical flanges project upwardly.
