1,031,649. Knitting-machines. ELITEXSDRUZENI PODNIKU TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI. Aug. 4,1964 [July 26,1963], No. 30655/64. Heading D1C. Yarn severing mechanism is provided in a circular machine and comprises an electrically heated wire 46 which extends into a groove 24 formed on a ring 16 having an outer conical surface 18 which may be ribbed, and a wall portion 23 so that an ingoing or outgoing yarn is supported by the uppermost edge portions 18a, 23a of the groove and cause the yarn 56 be drawn into engagement with the wire 46. The machine may have two sets of feeders 31, 32, Fig. 1 (not shown), with a splicing guide associated with each. The ring 16 is mounted on the edge of the welt dial and rotates therewith. A plate 27 mounted above the dial cam cap has notched portions 27a to engage an outgoing yarn and pins 26 to guide the yarns past a suction nozzle 28 which draws up the ends of the yarns after they have been severed by the wire 46. The wire 46 serves to sever the splicing yarn fed from the feeder 31 and a second heater wire 56 which is movable into and out of position severs the splicing yarn from the feeder 32.
