Abstract

103,109. Gauchet, A. Nov. 27, 1915, [Convention date]. Projectiles; projectile fuses.-Relates to rifle and like grenades. According to this invention, (1) a percussion fuse in such a projectile comprises a striker arranged in a cavity formed in the tubular base of the grenade, the striker being kept away from a percussion cap by a spring until it moves torward by inertia when impact occurs; (2) a grenade may be discharged from a firearm by means of a. tube which is attached to the base of the grenade and is adapted to be slipped over the barrel. Fig. 1 shows a grenade having a stem 10, which is provided with a driving-cup 12 and fits within the barrel of the fire-arm. The striker 6 of the fuse consists of a mass of metal having an annular groove, with which a safety-pin 8 is adapted to engage. The detonator tube 2, capholder 4, fuse socket 3, and body 1 are assembled by screwing, as shown.
