[Also in Divisions A5 and F1] In a fire-fighting pump (see Division F1) mounted on a vehicle, centrifugal pumps 1, 2 are driven by universally - jointed shafts 19, 20 each carrying a pinion (not shown) meshing with a gear-wheel on a power take-off shaft driven by the engine of the vehicle through its gear-box. Other auxiliaries, e.g. a priming pump 23 for the pumps 1, 2, an injection pump for foaming agents, an electric generator and an air compressor may be driven by the power take-off shaft.
