[Class 35] [Also in Group XXXVII] The gears driving the distributer shaft in ignition equipment for aircraft also act as an air pump to compress the air in the casing containing the distributer. In the form shown, the teeth of the gears 3, 4 driving the distributer 6 are so formed that they act as elements of an air pump. The gears are in recesses 1a, 1b enclosed by a cover 11, and air apertures are provided. The invention is also applicable to other electrical machines with internal gearing for operation at high altitudes. Specification 566,283 is referred to.
