Abstract

1,030,699. Brush-holders for dynamo-electric machines. T. MABUCHI. March 5, 1963, No. 8775/63. Heading H2A. The brush-gear for an electric motor comprises two electrically conductive plates 4 positioned on both sides of bearing 6 and secured by nuts 9 on projections 7 formed on the plastics end cover 2. Additional security is obtained -by extensions 10 passing through slots in the end cover; the extensions additionally acting as the motor terminals. Coil spring filament brushes are used, the coil 12a being located on projections 13 formed on the plates and the ends located in notch 14a in projections 14 also formed on the plate. Plastic disc washers are used to retain coil 12a on projection 13. In a modification, projections 7, 13, 14 are all formed on the end cover and the brush plate is bored with corresponding holes. Projection 15 is used to hold the brush retracted from its operating position during assembly of the motor. The end cover may be made of metal with insulated seatings for the plates which can be attached by set-screws.
