Abstract

1,143,096. Brushgear for electric motors. E. P. EATON, and D. ELOW. 25 Aug., 1966 [13 Sept., 1965], No. 38135/66. Heading H2A. Brushgear for an electric motor comprises a brush holder 10 having an electrically conductive cap 17A and a hollow central portion in which is slidably disposed a carbon brush 12B formed at one end with a cavity 21 in which is fitted in electrical contact with the sides thereof a helical end portion of a helical spring 15 which constitutes the single flexible electrical connection between the brush and the cap and urges the brush away from the cap. The spring may be of beryllium copper or Cortem alloy, and in modifications the cavity is frusto-conical, annular, and dovetail shaped, and possibly threaded. The brush is of rectangular or circular cross-section.
