Abstract

916,616. Switch contacts. RAYDEX Ltd. Jan. 9, 1961 [Jan. 7, 1960], No. 565/60. Class 38 (5). A composite contact and terminal for incorporation in a switch comprises a brass socket 5 (Fig. 1) with a screw 7 for clamping a cable end therein and having a stepped bore 9 in which a piece of silver wire 11 is retained by forming heads 12 and 13 on its ends as shown. The head 12 thus provides a solid silver contact on a terminal which can be detachably mounted in a suitable socket in the body of an electric switch. The brass socket 5 has a hexagonal exterior to prevent rotation of the terminal. In the alternative embodiment of Fig. 3, the brass socket 14 has a bore 16 coaxial with a tapped aperture for cable-clamping screw 21 so that silver wire 18 may be formed with retaining- heads 19 and 20, as shown, the head 19 thus providing a solid silver contact.
