Abstract

[Also in Division G1] An electrode assembly for use in a flowmeter comprises an electrode 10, sleeve 5, bushing 4 and fastening means. As shown (Fig. 2) mounted in a tube 2, the electrode 10 of non- magnetic material is fitted through bushing 4, the sleeve 5 of stainless steel, brass or rigid plastic material is then placed above the bushing and the terminal, washers and fastening nut are loosely mounted. The nut is now tightened, forcing the flexible bushing 4 to expand and form a liquid-tight seal. The rigid sleeve 5 also ensures that the electrode 10 is not drawn out from the inner surface of the tube insulant 1 by excessive tightening of the nut. The bush 4 is preferably synthetic plastic known by the Trade Name " Fluon." The sleeve may have a larger diameter at the inner end, relative to tube 2, and may have a flange to provide the terminal washer at the outer end.
