Abstract

1,029,668. Soot-blowers. M. BRINKER, [trading as M. SPUHR & CO.-APPARATEBAU]. April 12, 1965 [April 21, 1964], No. 15514/65. Heading F2N. In a soot-blower comprising a blast pipe 14 having a lateral nozzle whereby pressure medium is blown internally against a boiler wall 1 and having a driving device effecting rotation and axial advance of the pipe, the supply of pressure medium to the pipe is controllable by the driving device such that the supply of pressure medium automatically increases with increasing advance. A connection pipe 12, Fig. 2 (not shown), of the blast pipe 14 has a blind end bore 18 and a triangular control opening 19, and is rotatably supported in the cylinder 11 mounted on the feeding device 3 and driven, via gear mechanism 4, by an electric motor 5. A control sleeve 21 which initially covers the opening 19, is guided on the pipe 12 and during rotation of the pipe is screwed into a fixed sleeve 24 to allow the edge 26 of the sleeve 21 to uncover the opening 19. The jets 17 of pressure medium impinge on the wall 1 in spiral paths. A lost-motion connection allows the pipe 14 to execute a half-turn before being retracted and cause the jets 17 to sweep areas of the boiler wall different from those swept during advance of the pipe.
