Portable buildings.-A portable hut constructed solely of planks bolted together comprises a series of combined roof and wall frames connected by longitudinal planks e, Fig. 3, and purlins f, and covered with wooden panels. The frame members are of single, double, or triple planks, as shown in Fig. 7, the end of a plank of one member fitting between two planks of an adjacent member. The rafters i are tied by beams band are supported by posts c and struts a; shoes d connect the feet of the posts and struts. The purlins are secured to the rafters by notched blocks g, h, Fig. 4. The roof and wall panels consist of overlapping planks and cross-battens and are coated with a hot mixture of coal-tar and resinous tar; the panels are laid on channelled planks laid on the rafters and forming gutters, and the joints are covered by planks bolted to the roof frame.
