Abstract
1,029,529. Combine-harvesters. TEXAS INDUSTRIES Inc. Dec. 10, 1964 [Dec. 17, 1963], No. 50423/64. Heading A1F. In a combine-harvester of the kind having portions 2, 3 which are disposed in front and along one side of a tractor 1, the portions are rigidly connected to one another and are supported by two ground-wheels 15 which are located on one side of the tractor rear-wheels when the tractor and combine are coupled together. In Fig. 1, the grain tank 16 is separate from the body 3 of the combine and is carried by tractor hitch linkage though connected to the body by a pivoted strut 17A. The combine includes the usual reaper-bar 5, transverse auger 6 and upwardly-sloping conveyer 7 leading to the threshing drum 9, windows 31 being provided in the casing 8 at various places to permit observation of the operation. The front part of the combine is connected to the tractor by and arm 26 and a hydraulic ram 28. Grain is fed into the grain-tank by a bucket elevator 24 and a horizontal auger 25 and can be discharged by augers 19, 21 and an adjustable deliverypipe 22. In Fig. 3, the grain tank 32 is of flattened shape and is carried on top of the harvester-body 3, there being a downwardly-extending discharge-leg 34 through which the tank can, empty itself into an auger 35 extending below the body and feeding an elevator 36 in a tube 37 on the opposite side of the body. The tank is filled, as before, by a bucket elevator 24 feeding a horizontal auger 33 extending into the tank. The drive to the moving parts is taken from the tractor power takeoff 44A through shafts 43, 44 and bevel gearing 42.
