Abstract

1,028,860. Refuse bins. BONNIERFOERETAGEN A.B. Feb. 9, 1965 [Feb. 12, 1964], No. 5512/65. Heading A4A. [Also in Division E2] , A pedal-operated refuse bin 1 includes a contents-compressing plate 4 which is mounted on the pedal-operated rod 5 so that when the plate is moved into the bin by spring action, the plate bears rigidly on the contents, and, when the plate is raised to the mouth of the bin, by pressure on the pedal, the connection of the plate to the rod is pivotal and engagement of a flange 12 with abutments 11 pivots the plate to open the cover 13. The end of the rod is received in a sleeve 7, secured to the plate and having a pin 8, which passes through a slot 9 in the rod. The plate is urged by a spring 10 to a position in which the pin is at the top of the slot the rod being within the sleeve and pivotal movement prevented. When the plate is raised to the mouth of the bin, continued pressure on the pedal, with the flange 12 and abutments 11 in engagement, forces the pin to the bottom of the slot and disengages the rod from the sleeve, against the action of the spring 10, so that pivoting can take place. The rim of a detachable lining 2 is secured by a clamping ring 3 pivoted to the bin and, in a modification, the cover 13 is omitted the plate forming the cover of the container.
