Abstract

Polyvinyl chloride is made by polymerizing vinyl chloride in the presence of a polymerization catalyst compris'ng a tris-(trialkylsilyl) vanadate or tetrakis (trialkylsiloxy) titanium and a reducing agent therefor such as an organometallic compound. The polymerization is preferably effected in an inert diluent. Exemplified catalysts are tris-(tri-n-propylsilyl) vanadate, and diethylaluminium chloride, and tetrakis (tri-n-propyl-siloxy) titanium and di-ethylaluminium chloride.
