Abstract

PURPOSE: The polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers is effected using a catalyst system containing a reaction product from a magnesium compound, an organoaluminum compound and a siloxane to product polymers with high stereoregularity in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: The polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers consisting of olefins is effected in the presence of a catalyst system consisting component I and II, wherein I is a mixture of (a) a solid product resulting from the reaction of a siloxane with a solid product from a magnesium compound bearing hydroxyl groups connecting with magnesium atom and an organoaluminum compound of the formula RnAlX3-x (R is hydrocarbyl of 1W20C, X is halogen atom, 0 n= 1.5) (b) an electron donor and (c) a titanium halide and II is an organometal compound of metal of group IWIII or an addition or raction product from the organometal compound with an electron donor.
