[Also in Division H2] A smooth cylindrical rotor 42 for an electric motor (see Division H2) is magnetized in a fixture consisting of a series of soft polepieces having a sinuous winding 70, and inclined faces 75, 76 in contact with the rotor to produce a graded magnetization as indicated by shading.
