Abstract

1,027,228. Reciprocating pumps. AUTO RESEARCH CORPORATION. Jan. 9, 1963, No. 1096/63. Heading F1A. A solenoid-actuated lubricating pump mounted in a reservoir comprises a solenoid assembly 125<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 9, not shown) mounted on a reservoir cover plate 11<SP>1</SP> and an unpacked piston pump assembly suspended beneath the cover plate, the solenoid and its housing E<SP>1</SP> being mounted independently. The pump piston 38, (Fig. 4, not shown) is coupled to the solenoid armature 25 and moved on its suction stroke by the solenoid and on its delivery stroke by a spring 40, spring-loaded ball valves being provided in the suction and delivery ports, and a filter 67, 68 at the suction port. A buffer spring 35 is provided between the piston and piston rod and a resilient pad may be provided between the solenoid and its support. The length of the piston rod may be adjusted to vary the piston stroke. Auxiliary hand actuation of the pump is effected through a knob 230 and linkage 231, 203. An indicator lamp may be fitted in the solenoid circuit, which may be controlled manually, by a machine supplied by the pump, or by an electric timer. The solenoid may be fixed in its support frame or suspended therefrom by a spring clip.
