Abstract
1,027,046. Electrical transformers. SOC. GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES ET MECANIQUES (ALSTHOM). Jan. 10, 1963 [Jan. 11, 1962], No. 1234/63. Heading H1T. An oil filled transformer suitable for an underground substation with an expansion space 9 above the oil level 8, comprises a separate sealed expansion chamber 10 mounted at the side of the tank 1 and connected to the expansion space 9 by means of a tube 11 terminating above the oil level 8. The expansion chamber 10 is secured to, or provided integrally with, the housing of the transformer and may be located below the oil level, a convenient location being the space left vacant by the high and low voltage distribution boards 2 and 3, the chamber 10 providing a support for the board 2. A screen 14, adjacent to the termination of the tube 11, prevents splash of oil into the tube.
