Abstract

1,026,864. Plastics stackable containers. MAUSER KOMM.-GES. Oct. 19, 1962 [Oct. 26, 1961], No. 39596/62. Heading B8D. [Also in Division B5] A plastics container has an elliptical opening 2 in its upper surface 1 having an upstanding rim 3 in the form of a funnel which can be closed by cementing or welding, and has a recess 6 in its lower surface 5 to accommodate the rim so that the containers may be stacked one on top of another. The rim is welded along its upper edge and the corners may be cut off to empty out the contents or, alternatively, the weld seam is immediately above the top surface of the container and studs 4 are provided which can be cut off to permit removal of the contents. Flat depressed panels 11 are formed in the container walls and may carry firms' markings. The opening may extend from one corner to the opposite corner and a cap-shaped outward bulge 13 may be provided surrounding the opening (see Fig. 18) so that when the weld seam is formed the bulge flattens out and prevents undue stress to the container surface. Before filling the rim may be welded at equally spaced intervals to facilitate welding after the container has been filled.
