A stainless steel sheet forming a V- shaped valley is arranged on a flat mild steel sheet with the legs of the V forming equal angles with the flat sheet and being supported by blocks and an explosive sheet also V shaped is point detonated at the apex of the V. The upper sheet may be in the form of a core lined with explosive and with its apex standing on the flat sheet. The explosive is detonated at the apex. The point of detonation may be spaced from the flat sheet.
