Hollow bottles E are thrown on to stationary base 13 positioned within rotating wheel 17, and one by one are progressed up slope 14 by the blades 15 secured to the inside of said wheel 17. Superposed bottles as they progress up slope 14 are knocked off (and returned to base 13) by fixed cam 18, and the rest of the bottles fall over the edge of wheel 17 into the space between the wheel 17 and an outer fixed cylinder 1. The bottles are uniformly orientated therebetween for subsequent discharge at 6. Orientation of bottles, Fig. 6.-Bottles which have been tipped over the top of rotating wheel 7 fall outwards therefrom and drop in between the wheel 7 and fixed cylinder 1; the outside of the said wheel being provided with pushers 25 each having a step 26 and 27 and a cam 28 and the fixed cylinder 1 being provided on its inside with a cam 29 (Fig. 2). If a bottle such as D falls downwards with its mouth downwards it strikes ledge 27 and cam 28 to fall on stationary rails 23 with its mouth upwards. If a bottle such as E falls with its mouth upwards it is agitated as it travels round by the stationary cam 29 and again falls downwards with its mouth upwards (as shown) to rest upon rails 23. Rails 23 are secured to the inside of cylinder 1 and pushers 25 move the noworientated bottles along the said rails 23 to the discharge point 6.
