Abstract

102,458. Evans, F. July 12, 1916. Capsule closures.-Relates to bottle caps of the kind comprising a cover with marginal gripping ridges and an opening normally closed by a member clamped between the cover and the bottle cr between the cover and a gasket disposed between the top of the bottle and the closing- member. The wall of the opening 5 in the top 3 of the cover G is flanged downwardly at 6 to form an annular pocket 7 for the cork or like gnsket 8 and an annular edge portion to press on the upper surface of the closing-disk H. When the cap is secured upon the bottle, the flange 6 embeds itself into the disk H, the opposite sides of the groove 11 formed therein bulging upwardly around the flange 6. To open the bottle, the disk H, which may be made of aluminium, tin-foil, &c. and scored, is cut through. fnstead of an annular gasket 8, a solid disk with an annular recess to receive the edge of the flange 6 may be used, and the member H may then be dispensed with. The member H and the diskshaped gasket may be made of celluloid or other transparent material.
