Abstract
1,024,451. Semi-conductor devices. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. Oct. 29, 1963 [Dec. 13, 1962; June, 19, 1963; Sept. 5, 1963], Nos. 47110/62, 24378/63 and 35115/63. Heading H1K. A mounting device for an electrical component (e.g. a semi-conductor device) comprises a two-part heat sink formed with a recess having deformable peripheral serrations engaging the component when the two parts are assembled together. In one embodiment (Fig. 2) an aluminium block formed with a recess 3 having serrated edges 5, and provided with cooling fins 7 engages a similar body also with a recess and accommodates a semiconductor rectifier therebetween. The fin surfaces may be of corrugated form and extend diagonally with respect to the longitudinal axis of the block. In a further arrangement (Figs. 5 and 6 not shown) each block includes three recesses and one block is provided with pins for engagement with corresponding sockets on the other part.
