Abstract

1,024,294. Load handling pallets and slings. T. HOWE & SONS Ltd. Dec. 12. 1963 [Dec. 13, 1962], No. 47034/62. Heading B8H. The lengthwise structural members 2 of a pallet are rigid and the cross-wise members 4 are telescopic. To adjust the width a detachable handle 12 rotates a screw 10 to vary the width between the full and broken line limits indicated. The maximum width is limited by stops 18, carried by one of the longitudinals 2 on one side, engageable with a longitudinal strut 16 fixed relative to the longitudinals 2 on the other side. When retracted, the pallet is held rigid by a latch 20. Load boards may be mounted on the support members 6. To adapt the pallet for slinging, laterally projecting lugs 24, Fig. 2, are provided. These are retracted when the pallet is stowed.
