Abstract

1,024,221. Supporting device for containers. S. D. MARSH. Sept. 14, 1962 [June 22, 1961], No. 22556/61. Heading B8D. A supporting device for a paint container'comprises a part 14 capable of releasably gripping the container and a handle part 15 extending upwardly from the gripping part, the handle part being so disposed that, in use, it does not intersect the longitudinal axis of the container. The gripping part comprises a spring metal member 16, having a claw-like member 18 for engaging the lower rim of a container 10 and claws 24- 27 for engaging the upper rim depending on the size of container. The handle is formed from metal wire, bent double, with a pair of knuckles 40 at its lower end. To use the device the handle is slid down the channel member until the knuckles engage slots 41; the upper and lower rims of the container are then engaged by the appropriate claws. The knuckles are then disengaged from slots 41 and the handle pulled up until the knuckles engage slots 42 or 43. On doing this the knuckles are forced between the container wall and member 16 causing the member to become more bowed and the claws to grip the rims more firmly, thus locking the container to the supporting device.
