Abstract
1,024,016. Valve bags. I.C.P.M. INDUSTRIES CHIMICHE PORTO MARGHERA S.p.A. Oct. 11, 1962 [Oct. 11, 1961], No. 38563/62. Heading B8K. A slit 3 (Fig. 2, not shown) in the wall 1 of a plastics bag has a flap 5 (Fig. 3, not shown) terminating in a tube 6, sealed behind it to the wall 1 along the edges 7, 8, 9, 11 and transversely across the adjacent wall of the tube at 10 (Fig. 2, not shown). The slit 3 is preferably at a corner of the bag and inclined to its longitudinal axis at 90 degrees to the diagonal. The edges of the slit are strengthened by the application of peripheral elements 4. A tape 13 may be attached to the base of the tube 6 to run freely along the side of the tube and through a channel 15, formed by additional welds 16, 16<SP>1</SP> of the flap 5 to the bag wall 1, and out of the bag through a hole 17. This tape is pulled, after the bag is filled, to turn over the valve tube and is then secured by lead sealing or knotting.
