Abstract

1,023,888. Injection moulding machines MEIKI SEISAKUSHO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Nov. 5, 1963 [Nov. 19, 1962; Dec. 13, 1962], No. 43596/63. Heading B5A. In a machine for injection moulding rubber comprising a rotatable and axially reciprocable screw 1, the injection cylinder 2 and screw 1 are provided with means for maintaining their temperature constant and below the vulcanization temperature, and vulcanization is effected solely within the mould 29, 30. The screw 1 has an axial bore 1<SP>1</SP> containing a tube 3 through which water is circulated. A pump P (Fig. 4, not shown) circulates a temperature control fluid through a circuit including inlets 25 and outlets 26 to a jacket 24, and a tank 34 containing a heater 36 controlled by a thermostat 35. The mould 29, 30 has an electric heater 33 controlled by a pyrometer (not shown). Material in strip form is fed to the cylinder 2 by rollers 21 driven by a shaft 22 connected to the drive for the feed-screw 1. The injection nozzle 28 is connected to the mould cavity through sprue bushings 46, 47. The bushing 47 may be of ceramic or stainless steel, and a heat resisting packing may be interposed between the bushings.
