Abstract
A gold-silver alloy plating bath contains AuCN 2-40 g./l., AgCN 0.3-8 g./l., and alkali cyanide 20-200 g./l. The bath is used at 15-48 DEG C., and forms a hard undercoat for a thin high carat gold plate. Metal salts e.g. the cyanides of Fe, Co, Ni, with alkali metals or In cyanide may be added. The coating formed contains 90-500 parts Ag per 1000 of Au. Optional additions include sodium hyposulphite and Turkey Red Oil.
