[Also in Divisions B3 and F2] A hollow article, e.g. a caisson, comprises an inner concrete member 1 and an outer member 2 having metal reinforcements 3, 4 and a space between the members 1, 2 which is filled with material under pressure to place the member 1 under compression and the metal reinforcements under tension. The material may be a cement based slurry, a polymerisable resin or a molten metal. A valve may be provided to maintain the fluid under a desired pressure.
