Abstract

Method and appts. for preparing bodies of powder including cementing materials, whereby active powder e.g. cement, plaster etc. is mixed with an inert material eg. sand, clay bitumen and pressed between two mould halves. The pressure is applied in stages with a press which applies a series of increasing pressure periods each followed by a period at constant pressure, several such cycles being required. The pressure is then released and the body allowed to set and harden. The bodies produced can replace cast iron, steel, light alloys for many applications at much less cost.
