Abstract
A press for semi-dry ceramic or similar material has a two part lower mould each half of which is independently vibrated by vibration generators. The upper die is so constructed that its outer wall slides between the double wall structure of the lower die. The vibrator action semi-compacts ceramic plugs placed in the lower mould before hydraulic die closure. The ratio of upper die pressure to vibratory pressure exerted on the lower die is 0.1-0.35 and an amplitude difference between the lower die parts of 0.2-0.5 mm is achieved.
