Abstract

1,022,560. Snow ploughs. KERSHAW MANUFACTURING CO. INC. Aug. 14, 1964 [April 22, 1964], No. 33258/64. Heading E1G. [Also in Division B7] A snow removal apparatus, for railway track, has a sweeper 28 delivering the snow to a conveyer leading to the impellor 43 of a discharge unit, a baffle 44 between the conveyer and impellor ensuring a predetermined angular velocity of the snow before entering the impellor. The apparatus is vertically adjustable on a slide rail 13, carried by a vehicle 10 running on the track 12, by a jack 17. Power take-off means 33 on the vehicle drives a brush type sweeper 28 discharging forwards and upwards to a screw conveyer on a driven shaft 39. Snow in the conveyer is carried inwardly past the baffle 44 to impellor blades 43 which discharge the snow through a rotatable duct 49.
