Abstract
A bell cover for a spool from which yarn is to be drawn off in a doubling &c. frame has a pivoted lid with a central orifice for the yarn and which when open engages over a hook on the outer wall of the bull so that when the yarn is put in the hook and the lid is replaced, the yarn is automatically threaded. When the lid is closed it stands clear of the wall of the bell; this arrangement with an aperture at the base of the bell evacuates lint &c. as the spool rotates. The bell may be cylindrical or cylindro-conical; it may be flared at its top to allow the yarn to balloon freely; and it may be attached to a support by spring fingers which engage notches in the base of the bell so that it may be detached by pulling it forward. The spool is put on a spindle which passes through the support.
