Abstract

1,021,509. Carburetters. H. K. WUCHERER. Aug. 21, 1962, No. 32008/62. Heading F1B. An injection carburetter comprises an air path and a fuel flow passage, at least two fuel metering orifices 10, 14 arranged in series in the fuel flow passage and a corresponding number of fuel metering valves 13, 15 which are controlled by fuel pressure differentials across the fuel metering orifices and by selected air pressures in the air path, whereby in the lower engine load range only one of the valves 15 is effective for controlling the fuel flow through the fuel metering orifices while the other metering valve 13 is opened responsive only to predetermined pressure differentials created at higher engine loads to permit an additional fuel flow, the last mentioned valve then controlling through one of the metering orifices the total fuel flow in the fuel passage. In a modification the fuel is distributed to the individual engine cylinders or groups of cylinders according to Fig. 1 (not shown), the air passes through a larger venturi 1 and a smaller venturi 2 and at higher load also through a throttle controlled by-pass 6 to the driver actuated butterfly valve 5 and then to the engine.
