Abstract

1,021,107. Typewriters &c. SIS S.A. Aug. 4,1964 [July 22, 1963], No. 30905/64. Heading B6F. An electrically operated paper feeding mechanism for continuous webs or blanks in a typewriter comprises a disc 3, Fig. 1, rotated in synchronism with the feed movement of the web, a mechanism 13 including a feeler arm 14 and a spring biased arm 16 connected to said feeler arm 14 and having an abutment 15, said mechanism co-operating with said disc to actuate an arm 12 of a micro-switch 11, when the arm 14 engages a recess 17 in the disc 3. The switch 11 is also controlled by a rocker arm 18 whose one end 19 co-operates with the arm 12. The control disc 3 which may be of cardboard or plastics material is exchangeable for another disc the recesses 17 of which conform to the arrangement of printing areas of the corresponding blank. In operation, to effect a long feed of the blanks or web, a key (not shown) is depressed, whereby an electromagnet 21 is energized which attracts an end 20 of the rocker arm 18, which in turn pivots the arm 12 of the micro-switch 11 to close a contact in the circuit of a motor 4. The motor drives via a clutch 5 and gearing 6 a shaft 7, Fig. 2, which drives a shaft 9 of the platen 1 via a worm and worm wheel 8. The duration of the feed movement is controlled by the recesses 17 and when the feeler arm 14 engages a recess 17 the abutment 15 pivots the arm 12 downwardly to open the micro-switch 11 and stop the motor 4.
