Abstract

793,419. Typewriters &c. ADLERWERKE VORM H. KLEYER AKT.-GES. Oct. 23, 1956 [Oct. 24, 1955], No. 32316/56. Class 100(4) In a power operated typewriter having means for adjusting the force of impact of the type faces, the case-shift lever also adjusts the force of impact so that both upper and lower case characters produce the same impression. When manual control 18 is rotated clockwise, bar 8 is moved to the left by lever 14, rotated anticlockwise about 13 by pin and slot 7, 2, and held in the resulting position by pawl 24. In moving anticlockwise, bar 8 moves stop bar 10 clockwise about pivot 12, thus allowing the type bar actuating member to remain longer in contact with the power roller and resulting in a heavier impresion being produced. On depressing the shift key, member 27 is turned clockwise about 29 by cam 31 rotated by shaft 30 through a clutch, not shown. Pin 28 turns plate 3 anticlockwise which increases the anticlockwise movement of bar 8, the clockwise rotation of stop bar 10, and the force of the blow of the type face on the platen, thus ensuring equal impressions for upper and lower case characters.
