Abstract

Means for facilitating the discharge of powdery or granular materials from a container 10, Fig. 1 (not shown) comprises a box 11 adapted to be bolted to the wall or extension of the container to enclose a discharge opening therein, the box comprising a discharge nozzle 112, an axially adjustable tube 14 in axial alignment with the nozzle 112, a flexible corrugated sealing sleeve 15 surrounding the tube 14 and secured thereto via a collar 142 at one end and to the box 11 at the other end, an aeration pad 18 in the box adjacent the discharge and means for supplying compressed air in the direction of arrow A to the tube 14. A truncated sealing plug 141 is attached to the outlet end of the tube 14 which may sealingly close the mouth 113 of the nozzle 112. The tube 14 is axially movable in a bearing sleeve 13 secured to the box 11, by means of, driven star wheel 16 engaging teeth 114 on the tube 14. Air is supplied either directly from a compressor to the tube 14 or piped from the containers interior at its top. Air is supplied to the underside of the pad 18 through pipe connection 20.
