Abstract

1,020,961. Rolling. SMERALOVY ZAVODY NARODNI PODNIK. July 2, 1964 [July 6, 1963], No. 27277/64. Heading B3M. [Also in Division F2] A rolling mill, suitable for transverse rolling, includes two rolls 2 and 4 mounted on hollow shafts 15 and 17, the rolls being driven by rods 16 and 18 which pass through, and are coupled to, the shafts and which can accommodate relative adjustment of the rolls. The rods have flexible couplings 9 and 13 at each end, the couplings being bolted, at one end, to the shafts 15 and 17 and, at the other end, to gear-wheels 8 and 12. The gear-wheels both engage a motor-driven gear 11. Each coupling is either in the form of a cruciform (Fig. 3 (not shown)) or a simple elongated strip, and is composed of sheet metal laminations provided with bolt holes. The rolls are each formed with circumferential wedge-shaped rolling ridges, and the lower roll is vertically adjustable by screws 6.
