Abstract

The basic dye uptake of acrylonitrile polymer fibres containing at least 80% by weight of acrylonitrile is increased by treating the uncollapsed fibre in the finish bath of a wet-spinning system with a reducing agent comprising sodium sulphoxylate formaldehyde, zinc sulphoxylate formaldehyde and mixtures thereof, sodium hydrosulphite, zinc hydroxysulphoxylate formaldehyde, zinc hydrosulphite, thiourea dioxide, sodium thiosulphate or sodium metabisulphite. The treated fibres are collapsed, dried and dyed with basic dyestuffs.
