Abstract

Polypropylene is dyed in a liquor containing at least one disperse dye and an alkyl phenol the alkyl group of which contains at least 6 carbon atoms, e.g. 8 to 12 carbon atoms. The alkyl phenol may be present in an amount of 0.1 to 1.0% by weight of the dye liquor. The polypropylene may be in the form of moulded articles, films or textile materials. Dispersing agents may be present in the dye liquor. In examples the alkyl phenols used are para-nonyl phenol, para-dodecyl phenol and octyl phenol.
