Abstract

1,019,134. Adjustable chairs. JOSEPH SANKEY & SONS Ltd. Aug. 19, 1964 [Sept. 3, 1963], No. 34704/63. Heading A4J. [Also in Division F2] A chair seat which is vertically adjustable by screw and nut gearing has a nut 14 normally free to rotate with a screw 16, an adjustable stop 20 being carried by a skirt 18 welded to the nut to co-operate with fixed stops 19 to limit rotation of the nut when it is desired to effect height adjustment of the seat. The adjustable stop comprises a plunger 20 urged by a spring 24 to an ineffective position, Fig. 5 (not shown). The plunger is fitted with an actuating knob 23 and with a radially projecting peg 25 which engages a cam 22 on a skirt 18 of the nut 14. The knob 23 can be turned to compress the spring 24 and bring the plunger into engagement with the stops 19.
