Abstract
1,226,763. Seats. EVERTAUT Ltd. 23 July, 1968 [27 April, 1967], No. 19404/67. Heading A4J. On withdrawing plunger 48 from hole 38, seat 12 can be moved vertically, to produce a non-rotational displacement of nut 16, which is keyed to tube 14, and a corresponding idle rotatio of screwthreaded spindle 21, which is journalled in the base of stationary outer tube 13. The rotation of spindle 21 is transmitted, by slidable square shaft 32, to assembly 34, 35 which carries apertured disc 37. The torque imparted to assembly 34, 35, by clock spring 50, is at least sufficient to counterbalance the weight of the unoccupied seat 12. When the seat 12 is occupied, the adjustment means may be automatically locked. Parts 16, 21, 28, 34, 35 and 40 are made of nylon, parts 16 and 21 may, alternatively, be made of acetal resin.
