1436693 Screw-and-nut mechanism CSEPELI SZERSZAMGEPGYAR 21 May 1973 [13 July 1972] 46663/75 Divided out of 1431489 Heading F2Q In a screw-and-nut mechanism comprising two nuts 52, 54 mounted on a screw-threaded spindle 48, the nuts are interconnected so that they may be axially pre-loaded either towards each other or away from each other. A cover 49 retains the nut 54 within a bore in the nut 52. A radial protrusion 56 on the nut 54 is engaged on each side by rows of balls 50 which also engage adjusting screws 57 for adjusting the preload of the nuts. In a modification, the preload is adjusted by a toothed ring 63 having two axially-spaced sets of external teeth, Fig. 3.
