Abstract

1,018,847. Disc brakes. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. Oct. 28, 1963 [Nov. 1, 1962], No. 41437/62. Heading F2E. In a disc brake of the kind wherein actuation of brake-actuating means 6 causes movement of a brake pad 8 on one side of a brake disc (not shown) into contact therewith, the reaction created resulting in a swinging movement of a movable member 1 about a pivot pin 2 carried by a fixed support 3 to bring a brake pad 9 on the other side of the disc into frictional contact with the disc, a compression spring 11 (Fig. 1, not shown) is disposed around the pivot pin 2 for maintaining the movable member 1 held against the fixed support 3. The spring can be arranged so that one end of the spring lies against the movable member 1 and the opposite end against an abutment formed by a washer 12 and split pin 13 on the pivot pin. Alternatively the spring can act between an exposed surface of the fixed support 3 and the pivot pin abutment.
