Abstract

The invention comprises pyrazine derivatives of the formula <FORM:1018775/C2/1> wherein R1 is a C1- 6-alkyl group, R2\t is a piperidino, pyrrolidino, morpholino or hexamethyleneimino group and one of R3 and R4 is a hydrogen atom and the other is a hydrogen atom or a C1- 6 alkyl group, and pharmaceutically-acceptable, non-toxic acid-addition salts thereof. The compounds are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:1018775/C2/2> wherein X is a halogen atom, with piperidine, pyrrolidine, morpholine or hexamethyleneimine, preferably in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide. Pharmaceutical compositions, having anti-depressant, muscle relaxant and gastric antisecretory activity, comprise a compound of the invention, or a pharmaceutically-acceptable, non-toxic acid-addition salt thereof, together with a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier. They may take the form of tablets, capsules, solutions, suspensions, suppositories or elixirs.
