Abstract

1,017,776. Protective arrangements. SUPERIOR ELECTRIC CO. Aug. 3, 1962, No. 29921/62. Heading H2H. A rate of change of current limiting apparatus comprises a load 14 in which it is desired to limit the rate of change of current, the load being supplied from a single-phase A.C. source 11, 12 by way of two circuits having an inductor 19 or 21 in parallel with a unidirectionally conducting device 20 or 22 respectively, the devices 20, 22 being oppositely poled. In other embodiments a rectifier bridge, which may include controlled silicon rectifiers, is used with a single inductor connected across one diagonal. When the load is supplied from a D.C. source only one inductor in parallel with a unidirectionally conducting device is required.
